Early to bed, early to rise...

Updated: Sep 7, 2021

Sometimes intentionally taking one small action step will be the catalyst to many big changes. It is the spark that ignites the kindling that turns into a forest fire. Is there one thing you do, or do NOT do, that is keeping you from being your best self? Is there a habit keeping you from achieving your goals? What are you choosing to repeat over and over until it is a wall separating you from the best gifts God has waiting for you? For me, one of my big walls I have built is my sleeping habits. I stay up too late in an effort to be alone. An introvert in a large family needs some me time to recharge! This is the spark that kindles my choosing not to wake up early in the morning to get a head start on the day. Not getting a head start on the day keeps me from my goals of spending quiet time with God in the mornings, starting my day with intentional movement, and being a calm force helping my children get off to school.

I often have to wait until my toddler’s afternoon nap to take a much needed shower, which delays anything productive I need to do outside of the home. This hinders my entrepreneurial goals and slows down my #momboss style.

My brain isn’t firing on all cylinders and my body wearily trudges through the day due to a lack of sleep. I am quick to get irritable and snap too quickly at my children. My ability to handle normal daily stressors is diminished as my cortisol levels rise. I often end the day feeling frazzled and thankful my sweet children are finally in bed. I turn to a nice glass of wine, tv, and a snack eaten too late in the day to relax and wind down. I stay up for far too long decompressing from the day that was stressful due to my lack of sleep and waking up later than I hoped. Notice a trend? Here’s a short list of some goals I have: ◻️Start my day with God ◻️Start my day with intentional movement ◻️Be ready for the day before the kids get out of bed ◻️Tackle my #momtrepreneur goals early in the day ◻️Extend my children more grace ◻️Be a calm yet firm presence in my home It is so wonderful and so daunting at the same time that one small spark can be the catalyst to tackling all of these goals! Here’s to igniting that fire!
