The BLESSED Life of a Military Child

Yes, the life of a military child is a hard one, but it is so much more than that. The blessings far outweigh the hardships. They love more, look beyond race or culture, make fast friends, open their hearts, anticipate adventure, and serve people. They appreciate diverse beauty, both in their surroundings and people. They understand that contentment is a choice, as is resentment.

Yes, their hearts have been shattered many times as they have had to depart with close, hard faught for friends and communities just as the glue solidifies, but they then get to experience the joy of having God mend them back together and deliver them new promises. They get to intimately feel God’s strengthening and fortification as He repairs the broken pieces to greater glory. They quickly learn Who their identity is truly tied to and Who their constant companion is.

We should all be so lucky to learn so early.

Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

Deuteronomy 31:8 It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
