Breakup with sugar...

Updated: Sep 7, 2021

It isn’t that eating #keto isn’t absolutely delicious, it’s that the foods that beckon are so addictive. The effects of excess sugar intake, in all its forms (white flour, white rice, corn syrup, etc), exhibit at least 5 out of the 11 criteria for classification as a Substance Abuse Disorder. These include 1) use of larger amounts and for longer than intended, 2) craving, 3) hazardous use, 4) tolerance, and 5) withdrawal. For perspective, someone must only meet 2 of the 11 criteria to be diagnosed as having an addiction. What’s even more interesting (and more frightening) is that prolonged intake of excess sugar increases the likelihood of an addiction to elicit drugs due to changes in brain chemistry (https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyt.2018.00545/full)

You don’t have to go Keto, but do yourself a favor and breakup with sugar. Stick to natural sources (they are needed fuel for your brain) like berries, milk, vegetables, etc. It only takes a couple of weeks of detoxing until you feel like a brand new human. A human with power and control over the fuel they choose to put into their body. You have the power!
