1. Why Supplement? We are nutritionally STARVING. We no longer have many of the vital nutrients and minerals we had in our diets when great grandma was born. This is due in part to what we call food in America's modern grocery store. The aisles are full of designer foods. Foods that are created from the very beginning to be profitable and addictive over healthy. Tasty (sometimes) chemical soups full of preservatives, food dyes, and addictive substances. Foods that are stripped of the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients our bodies need to function at the most basic levels.
What’s more is even if you ate the four corners and rainbow of the garden daily, you would still be lacking in minerals, enzymes, and nutrients due to depletion of today’s soil. This is actually a factor in today's obesity epidemic; we must simply eat more food to get the nutrients our bodies are starving for.
Supplementation is not a luxury, it is a necessity. Our bodies must be fueled. When the proper nutrients are not provided from without the body, the body must pull them from within. Dis-ease is caused by an accumulation of stress in the body - physical, mental, or emotional. The physical stress caused to the body as it pulls from its own tissues and organs to survive is a catalyst for dis-ease. A healthy diet PLUS supplementation gives the body the fuel it was designed to run on. Wellness starts from a foundation of nutrition.
2. Do you know what is in that capsule you spent your hard-earned money on? You are dedicated to your health and know you must supplement to stay vital, so you go to the big-box store and find a label that promises important things like "preservative free," "all natural," and the like. You are paying for what the label is promising you; you are not intentionally paying for artificial dyes, synthetics, fillers, and preservatives, but chances are VERY likely you are.
