What’s the Difference Between an Essential Oil and a Vitality Essential Oil?

There are three main ways to use Young Living Essential Oils:

1. Topically,

2. Aromatically, and

3. Internally

Per FDA guidelines, you cannot mix and match uses. If an oil is recommended for topical or aromatic usage, the same oil cannot simultaneously be recommended for internal usage. This applies to the entire line of Young Living products, regardless of whether or not the particular “aromatic/topical” oil is found on the FDA GRAS - Generally Regarded As Safe for consumption - list. Further more, and claim of body system support can only be said for oils recommended for internal usage. This really limits what we can say about oils and what we know of them, doesn’t it?

Enter the genius of Young Living! You see, YL is a company of INTEGRITY. If guidelines say they may not make internal usage recommendations or claims for oils also recommended for topical/aromatic use, they are honoring that. I absolutely love this about them! Now here comes the genius part...since YL cannot make dual application claims, they made a line of oils specifically labeled for internal usage!

In the US, the YL internal/dietary line is called the Vitality line. The Vitality line has labels and directions indicating they are for internal consumption. The regular line has directions for aromatic and topical uses. And get this, the Vitality line is now certified Non-GMO!

So, beyond the label, what are the differences between Vitality oils and their non-Vitality counterparts? Nada. Zilch. Nothing. You see, Lemon oil and Lemon Vitality are the SAME oil with different labeling and directions. SAME oil, DIFFERENT label. You can use all of them for internal consumption if you so choose. Of course, if you are not comfortable using oils for internal consumption, that's perfectly fine! Topical and aromatic uses are great options.
